Tanzania Freight Forwarders Association was established in 1979 in Dar Es Salaam, by a small group of Freight Forwarders who saw a need to meet the professional demands of its members.
TAFFA is a member of FIATA, the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations. TAFFA has over 600 firms in membership at national level. The association’s interests and priorities are articulated by the Federation of East Africa Freight Forwarders Association (FEAFFA).
TAFFA was formed primarily to bring together in one body all the firms in the Freight Forwarding industry. It over sees the critical role played by the Customs functions and trade facilitation in general. Whilst the industry has been facing challenges related to service delivery, professionalism and self-regulation, the introduction of TAFFA has expanded the scope of operation for customs clearing and freight forwarding Agents by putting policies to ensure improved service delivery, professionalism and adherence to standards for the industry to remain relevant to the changing Customs operating environment in the EAC region and beyond.
