Therefore, I have chosen to use the most widely recognized and accessible source of university rankings, which is the uniRank website. uniRank is a leading international higher education directory and search engine featuring reviews and rankings of over 13,600 officially recognized Universities and Colleges in 200 countries. uniRank publishes the Tanzanian University Ranking of 30 Tanzanian higher-education institutions every year, based on the following uniRank selection criteria:
- being chartered, licensed or accredited by the appropriate Tanzanian higher education-related organization
- offering at least three-year bachelor’s degrees or postgraduate master’s or doctoral degrees
- delivering courses predominantly in a traditional, non-distance education format
uniRank also provides a list of the top public universities in Tanzania, which are the universities that are funded by the government and are open to all qualified students. In addition, I have also consulted some other sources of university rankings, such as Mabumbe and webometrics, which are popular online platforms for education and career information in Tanzania. These sources may use different criteria or methods to rank the universities, but they generally agree on the top one
