The Institute of Rural Development Planning (IRDP) is a corporate body established by the Parliamentary Act No. 8 of 1980. The Act provides a legal framework for the Institute to be established as an important national centre for provision of training, research and consultancy services in the field of Rural Development Planning and Management with main objective of alleviating qualitative and quantitative shortage of skilled manpower within the framework of sustainable capacity building directed towards reducing poverty and attaining sustainable development.

To apply follow the following procedure:
Application forms can be obtained from Admission’s Office or can be downloaded from the IRDP-LAKE ZONE CENTRE website at http://www.mwanza.irdp.ac.tz. Duly filled in application forms must reach the Admission’s office not later than the date indicated in the advertisement calling for applications for a particular academic year.
Only applicants who meet the required minimum entry qualification should submit application forms. Application forms from applicants who do not meet the minimum entry requirements will not be processed. Applicants who meet the minimum entry requirements may be selected.
Selected candidates are required to report for a one week orientation programme that normally takes place during the week preceding the beginning of the new academic year.
Deadline for registration of first year students shall be two weeks from the first date of the orientation week while for continuing students will be the Friday of the second week after the beginning of a semester.
In addition, admission shall be granted to students only if they produce evidence of payment of at least half of the fee which is directly payable to the Institute.
