Jobs Scam Alert – How to Avoid Fake Job Offers – Avoid Fake Job Advertisements – Do Not Pay for a Job

Beware of various employment scams. Various fraudulent schemes offer fake offers of employment at companies, NGOs etc.

These use e-mails and fake web-sites, faxes and telephone numbers. Sometimes they use non existent physical addresses or real physical address but cannot be found at that address.

Some request detailed information and/or money, in connection with supposed registration fees, hotel/travel reservations, or employment opportunities.

Some will offer employment with or without interview and request funds for medical examination, uniforms, registration, badges, t-shirts etc. These are job scams.

Recipients are warned not to send any money or bank account details or any personal or professional information in response to them.

With regard to employment opportunities, it should be noted that genuine offers do not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process.

Do not Mpesa money to anyone for any employment offers. Do not pay for interviews. Do not pay for alleged medical evaluation prior to employment. Do not send money to strangers on the basis of a phone call you have received.

  • Fake jobs on social media.
  • Fake jobs apparently from legitimate employers.
  • Bogus jobs on legitimate job boards.
  • Fake job boards, fake employer websites, and fake recruiter websites.Scammers know that finding a job can be tough. To trick people looking for honest work, scammers advertise where real employers and job placement firms do.

    A job scam occurs when a scammer poses as an employer or recruiter, and offers attractive employment opportunities which require that the job seeker pay money in advance.

    This is usually under the guise of work visas, travel expenses, background checks, credit checks medical examinations or tests required for the job.

    Do not be scammed – never pay any money at any stage of the job application process.
