History Syllabus Tanzania, Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE),

This is offered to candidates who have completed two years of secondary education (advanced level) and have had three credits at CSEE level.

The Examination Calendar

The ACSEE is administered on the first week of May every year.

The objectives of ACSEE

The objectives of this examination are to assess the learner’s knowledge and ability to pursue with further education such as diploma and degree courses; to examine the extent to which the learners can use the skills gained to meet the social, political, economic and technological challenges for the individual and the national development at large. Therefore, candidates at this level are expected to possess the following skills in a broad range of activities: knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation.

Eligibility of Candidates who Seats for the Examination

This examination is offered to candidates who have completed two years of secondary education (advanced level) and have had three credits at CSEE level.

 

Syllabus for Forms 5 and six

Three sections.

Section one: Origins and development of modern African states

Section two: Africa in world history up to 1945.

Section three: Major issues in world history since 1945.

Paper 1: Origins and development of modern African states

  1. Pre-colonial social formations
  2. Establishment of colonialism
  3. The colonial economy up to 1945
  4. Colonial social services up to 1945
  5. Colonial bureaucracy up to 1945
  6. Impact of the second world war
  7. Nationalism and the struggle for independence
  8. Political and economic development since independence

 Paper 2: Africa world history up to 1945

  1. Africa and Europe in the fifteenth century
  2. The rise of capitalism in Europe
  3. Imperialism and the colonization of Africa
  4. Africa and the crises in capitalism
  5. Africa and rise of socialism
  6. Black people in the new world

  Paper 3: Major issues in world history since 1945

  1. New imperialism and the dominance of America
  2. Consolidation of socialism
  3. The crisis of socialism as a worldwide system from late 1980’s
  4. The rise of China
  5. Socialism in other third world countries
  6. Neo-colonialism  and the problem of under development
  7. International cooperation
  8. World peace
