UDSM – Undergraduate Admission degree Programme : The University of Dar es salaam offers various academic programmes leading to the award of certificates, diplomas, and degrees. A total of 4 Certificates, 3 Diplomas and 65 Undergraduate Degree Programmes are offered at various academic units of the University of Dar es Salaam these include Evening Study programmes designed to offer opportunities to mainly the working people although any interested person who have requisite entry qualifications can apply.
One undergraduate distance learning study programme (Bachelor of Business Administration) has been designed to benefit those who merit University education but for some reasons are unable to attend regular classes at the University. The number of students admitted at the University of Dar es Salaam has been increasing steadily, from 14 in 1961 to 21,502 (13,641 male and 7,861 female) undergraduate degree and non-degree in the 2011/2012 academic year. Female students constitute 36.5% of all undergraduate students at the University of Dar es Salaam.
ADMISSION INTO UNDERGRADUATE AND POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FOR ACADEMIC YEAR
The University of Dar es Salaam invites applications for admission from qualified candidates into its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the Academic Year. In this academic year, the University will offer a total 88 undergraduate programmes and more than 189 Postgraduate Programmes leading to the award of certificates, diplomas, bachelor degrees, postgraduate diplomas, masters and PhD. All requisite information and guidelines to take the applicant through the application stages are provided from the respective Instructions tab. ie. UNDERGRADUATE tab for those applying for Certificates, diplomas and bachelor degrees and POSTGRADUATE tab for those applying for postgraduate-diplomas, masters and PhD .
Applicants are reminded to register their names as they appear in Ordinary Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) and Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSE) including index numbers where prompted.
Undergraduate applicants with foreign certificates are required to first present their certificates to the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) for verification at: www.necta.go.tz.. NECTA will issue them letters showing equivalent grades, copies of which should also be uploaded together with other certificates. Equivalent applicants are advised to obtain a special unique number from National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) for verification and applying in the system at: www.nacte.go.tz.
Postgraduate applicants with Foreign Certificates should have their certificates verified by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) at: http://faas.tcu.go.tz/login.php upon receipt of admission letter and prior joining the University of Dar es Salaam for studies.
